With Mental Health Awareness Month just around the corner, we're sharing how OnSite is helping our clients put their mental health first during the month of May. Two years ago, the COVID-19 pandemic brought mental health into the spotlight. During 2020, we were unable to visit our clients in person, so we developed Mind Your Health, a program that introduced healthy strategies to cope with stress and offered educational resources surrounding mental health.
We wanted to go outside of the box — everyone (us included) became exhausted with the same, simple mental health webinars. Mind Your Health combats "self care fatigue" and leaves a positive impact on our clients by challenging and engaging with them.
Our Mind Your Health portal includes a Mental Health Challenge, Healthy Snaps, and classes that cover the basics of stress, anxiety, and depression. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we offer our clients this specialized Mental Health Portal each year.
Our challenge encourages participants to cope with stress in healthier ways. We understand there is not a one-size-fits-all approach to managing stress — that's why we've included four different wellness strategies for our clients to participate in.
—Move More (weeks 1–4): Starting in their first week, participants add more physical activity into their daily routines.
—Laugh a Little (weeks 2–4): In week two, participants are encouraged to add more humor into their daily lives, like telling a joke, reading comic strips, watching a comedy special, etc.
—Be Grateful (weeks 3–4): In the third week, participants track how often they practice gratitude through journaling.
—Self Care (week 4): The last week is devoted to reconnecting to yourself. Participants are encouraged to devote time to their favorite hobbies and activities, and rest when needed.
Participants then track each of these four wellness strategies on their challenge tracker and record a tally for each day they try a strategy. These four strategies are beneficial to maintaining a healthy mindset and they leave a lasting impact on overall mental health.
Healthy Snaps are visual snapshots of participants engaging in their four different well-being strategies. The photos are uploaded by the participant to the Mind Your Health portal so they can be documented for the four-week challenge.
We offer three classes that demonstrate healthy ways to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. Long-term stress can increase the risk of mental health problems (like anxiety and depression) substance use problems, sleep issues, and muscle tension. It's crucial to know the steps to prevent these problems and find healthier ways to cope with stress.
To prepare for Mental Health Awareness month, we are encouraging companies to promote and implement mental health practices in the workplace. If you need assistance or have any questions, send us a message!
At OnSite Wellness, employee health and wellness is our specialty. Incorporating an employee wellness program at your workplace can have massive benefits for your employees in tracking and managing a healthy lifestyle — we are here to help you put your employee's health first.
