Fall In Love With Your New Routine

Written by OnSite | Oct 11, 2021 3:00:00 PM

Summer might be over, but sweater weather and pumpkin picking season are now in full swing! As seasons change, so do our lifestyles. Change in our eating habits, movement and hobbies can always be exciting, but we never want it to hinder getting the best out of a healthy mind and body. For example, it may be harder to get out and go for a chilly walk when you would much rather cozy up on the couch and 'hibernate.' With careful planning and healthy balance, you can get the best out of your new fall routine.

Your Fall Routine

Fall Food

The temperatures have cooled down, which means our taste buds are craving warm chili, thick soups and stews, and oven-roasted meals. Embrace your body's change to different seasons! It's important to note spring and summer aren't the only months with fresh seasonal produce. Fall produce in season includes: brussels sprouts, potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, squashes, rutabagas, parsnips, turnips, beans, and pumpkins are nutrient-packed foods that you can enjoy for both taste and health. Enjoy your fruits baked, rather than raw. You can always drizzle your baked fruit with a touch of cinnamon and honey. And remember, an occasional sugar-covered donut and apple cider never hurt.

Movement

As we mentioned, humans naturally tend to 'hibernate' as soon as the leaves begin to fall. But what is better than a warm summer walk? Enjoying a walk in the crisp, fall air watching the gorgeous leaves change. Setting an alarm clock in the morning for an outdoor walk allows for a fresh and energized day. Staying indoors? Grab a handy yoga mat and stretch away the stress. Feeling in a workout rut? Gyms are indoors and so are workout classes like Title Boxing and Lunar Cycle. Work at a desk? Allow yourself a brief break every 30 mins - 1 hour to get up and walk around or stretch.

Hobbies

Fall may be one of our favorite seasons based on all of the activities! Pumpkin carving, apple picking, corn mazes, and haunted trails are all wonderful bonding opportunities with friends and family. You can also join your community for fun fall events like Halloween runs and turkey trots.

We are headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and found these opportunities in our backyard: Grand Rapids Fall events! What might you find in your neck of the woods? Search social media and local newspapers for fun fall events near you. Then, grab a friend, and sign up!
